Frequently Asked Questions

What makes sourdough healthier than regular bread?
Fermentation produces lactic acid and prebiotics that support gut bacteria and improve nutrient absorption. The long rise reduces natural sugars and gluten, resulting in a lower glycaemic index and easier digestion.

Do I need special flour?
All‑purpose or bread flour works for most recipes. Whole‑grain flours add extra fibre and minerals; fermentation breaks down their phytic acid so nutrients become more available.

How often should I feed my starter?
A new starter typically needs feeding once or twice daily during its first week. Once mature, you can store it in the fridge and feed weekly. Our app calculates feeding schedules based on your desired bake time and room temperature.

What if I see a dark liquid (hooch)?
Hooch indicates a hungry starter. Pour off the liquid or stir it back in, then feed equal parts flour and water.

Why isn’t my starter rising?
Mark the jar with a rubber band so you can see any rise. Keep your starter warm (74-76°F). If it’s cold it will take longer to ferment.

Is the kit gluten‑free?
The kit itself (tools) is naturally gluten‑free. Sourdough fermentation reduces gluten but does not eliminate it entirely; people with coeliac disease should consult a healthcare professional.

Do you offer refunds?
Yes! If you’re not satisfied, email support@pancitoymas.com within 30 days for a replacement or refund.

How long does shipping take?
Amazon handles fulfilment for our kit. Prime members typically receive it within 2–3 business days in the continental US.

Can I bake without a Dutch oven?
Absolutely. Our included bread sling help you achieve good oven spring on a baking stone or sheet. For even better crust, try using a covered pot.
